As silly as it may sound to stop by and pet puppies or enjoy a 10-minute massage, this might be the break that your mind and body need to keep going with the studying and busy schedule.
Drink Plenty of Water
When you’re studying and working on projects at all hours of the day, it’s pretty easy to get carried away with the amount of coffee that you’re consuming. While coffee is definitely a must-have for most of us during finals week, don’t forget to drink plenty of water. Your brain works best when it’s hydrated! Aside from that, your body can suffer in more ways than one when it’s dehydrated. For many, dehydration can lead to fatigue and horrible headaches. So, while you want to make sure you’re getting plenty of coffee to keep you going, make sure that you’re filling your water bottle up and that you have it on your person.
Create a Schedule
Professors will often provide you with a list of final exam times as well as due dates for projects far before finals week. As the countdown to finals begins, start working on a schedule so that you can stay organized during this busy time of the school year. Factor in how much time you’ll need to work on those papers or group projects as well as ample study time for your harder classes. By setting a schedule in advance, you can ease the feelings of anxiety that are so common during this time of the year.
While a busy schedule can be overwhelming to take a step back from, you absolutely need to make time to take breaks from working so hard. Your mind and body need some time to rest from constantly working, especially if you want them to perform well. Sure, you can definitely run on little to no sleep or study for hours on end, but your body and brain aren’t going to perform as well as you’d like them to, which is a pretty unfortunate outcome for the amount of work you’re doing. Rather, take a quick 10 to 15 minute break every once in a while, and give yourself a moment to refresh before diving back in.
